Record type: published Forgotten Realms coalition. Idlewood integration: not established.

Record

  • Origins: Formed in 1325 DR as a coalition of cities of the Sword Coast North, initially responding to the influence of powerful merchant houses. Its membership and aims developed over time.
  • Population / scale: Unknown as an organization. Its scale is represented by member city-states and their forces; no single alliance-wide population or standing-army count is specified.
  • Alignment: The referenced Forgotten Realms Wiki entry labels it lawful good. This is a setting reference for the organization, not a claim that every member or member city shares an individual alignment.
  • Leaders: Leadership depends on date. The page identifies Open Lord Laeral Silverhand as alliance leader in its late-15th-century account; other eras list different leaders. No campaign-era leader is established for Idlewood.
  • Goals: Preserve civilization, collective safety, and prosperity through cooperation, treaties, trade-route security, diplomacy, and military action when needed.
  • Territory: A loose network among cities and towns of the Sword Coast, North, and Western Heartlands. Named examples include Waterdeep, Neverwinter, Baldur's Gate, and Silverymoon; membership varied over time.
  • Resources: Member cities' diplomacy, trade agreements, officials, and military forces. Resources are distributed among members rather than one uniform central army.
  • Relationships: Cooperation coexists with rivalry among members. Published relationships with groups such as the Harpers, Emerald Enclave, Order of the Gauntlet, and Zhentarim are era-specific and can change.

Campaign boundary

The alliance is not established as a government over Idlewood or a local Crown analogue. Do not assume membership, jurisdiction, or an active local representative.
