Scope: Forgotten Realms setting lore. The Weave is not a universal D&D rule or an established feature of Arcfall/Idlewood.

In the Forgotten Realms, the Weave is the principal means by which many spellcasters access and shape raw magic. It is associated with Mystra, the goddess of magic. A useful Realms metaphor treats it as the structure through which magic can be worked, rather than magic itself. Other ways of accessing magic exist in the setting, so the Weave is not synonymous with all magic everywhere.

Realms sources describe places where the Weave is absent or damaged. A dead-magic zone is an area where ordinary Weave-based magic fails; distorted areas can instead produce unpredictable magical effects. Such phenomena are setting lore and vary by source and historical period.

This note does not establish a local magical system, local deity, or magical geography. Arcfall’s rules remain to be set by its own world material.
