Captain Veyr
Original campaign-world reference. Sections describing the supplied Day 17 instance record that playthrough only; possibilities remain possibilities.
Role: Crown officer whose collection practices can create local pressure. World lore: Veyr exploits the gap between Crown demands, what farmers believe is owed, and what the records show. A possible scheme involves inflated collections, skimming grain or goods, manipulated records, hidden storage, resale, and information sales to the Hook. He is a local pressure, not the setting's main villain. A player may expose, ignore, work with, kill, or never fully understand him; his condition in a fresh instance is open.
Day 17 instance: The player character uncovered Veyr's surplus skimming and Hook information sales, executed a covered-wagon substitution at Bell's Crossing, and later killed Veyr with a shortbow. Crown investigators began auditing suspicious property and accounts; a deep audit could expose the forged Idlewood delivery. His death and these events belong only to this instance. Veyr is not Captain Orlan Vance from the earlier adaptation, despite both being Crown officers.
