Edren
Original campaign-world reference. Sections describing the supplied Day 17 instance record that playthrough only; possibilities remain possibilities.
Role: Keeper associated with ancient infrastructure beneath the region. World lore: Edren knew enough to conceal rather than exploit some of it. His story should emerge through partial records and people who each know only part of the truth. His death, disappearance, or incapacity is a standard starting pressure, but a particular instance determines which occurred. Day 17 instance: Edren is dead. Eve has his dark-metal credential cached at an unknown location; it is not in the player character's inventory.
The credential is an administrative credential for compatible sites: it may identify authorized users, interact with controls, and work at more than one place. It may have paired credentials and is not necessarily unique. The Hook calls people like Edren Keepers—those who concealed, fragmented, protected, or restricted access to ancient sites. Neither source says Keepers were a formal organization. Edren is distinct from Edrin Coalhand in the earlier local adaptation; their similar names do not establish an alias or shared identity.
