Master Tormentor Rell
Preserved local adaptation or Roll20 reference. Its people, events, inventories, and geography belong to their stated source context; they are not merged into original Everterra canon.
Role: Oversees coercive procedures at the Ninth Gate. Allegiance: Gate institution. Status: Named in the Roll20 “9th Roles” handout; no appearance, location, or current condition is established in accepted play.
The handout describes Rell as rarely interacting directly with prisoners. Pain is measured, logged, and compared under his supervision. Its GM-facing explanation says he seeks clean responses and treats cruelty as noise, with clarity rather than suffering as the stated goal. This is a description of his institutional reasoning, not an excuse for the harms he oversees. No personal history, relationship to the other Gate officials, or specific knowledge of the Idlewood mechanism is supplied. His name and title are recorded as written in the handout.
