Idlewood evidence

The existing character data explicitly records the following language and communication entries:

CharacterRecorded entries
ZedCommon, Halfling, Thieves' Cant
SeraphCommon, Celestial, Dwarvish, Gate cant
HugoCommon, Dwarvish
GarrCommon, Dwarvish, Silent signs

Thieves' Cant, Gate cant, and Silent signs are preserved as the named communication entries in the source, without assuming that all are ordinary spoken languages. Garr's vow of silence remains part of his biography. Village-wide language use, local scripts, regional dialects, and fluency for other named residents are unspecified; a character's ancestry alone does not supply them.

Bundled SRD reference

The project's local SRD language collection lists Standard languages: Common, Dwarvish, Elvish, Giant, Gnomish, Goblin, Halfling, and Orc; Exotic languages: Abyssal, Celestial, Draconic, Deep Speech, Infernal, Primordial, Sylvan, and Undercommon. It gives scripts and typical speakers for some entries. Those are game-reference classifications, not a census or proof that a language is used in Idlewood.

Examples from the bundled data: Common uses Common script; Halfling uses Common script and is described as having a strong oral tradition with little writing; Gnomish uses Dwarvish script; Sylvan uses Elvish script. The data does not assign these languages to campaign characters.
