Source context: this record describes the earlier local Arcfall adaptation, not the owner-supplied Everterra world or its Day 17 instance. See Everterra and Idlewood for the original lore and the source correction.

Current checkpoint

When and where: Shortly after one o'clock at Crow Hollow, after the quarry signals.

Present situation: Zed and Garr have returned from launching the quarry flare. Seraph has just told the group that the prisoners talked and that there is a worse problem: the eastern boundary stone is a lock, and a Crown diviner is already in Idlewood.

Known outcomes: Vance and the watch hound are dead. Oris Dane, Pellin Ro, and Kes survived. Zed sent a blue flare six minutes late and the party sent a red flare at 12:25 from the eastern quarry. The accepted log says the staged quarry scene and red signal draw Crown riders east toward the Ninth Gate. Outcomes beyond that recorded diversion remain open.

Next action: Zed has not yet chosen what to do in response to Seraph's warning. The next scene starts at this decision. Do not add a scout, sound, check, new manifestation, or other event before the player declares an action.

This exact resume instruction is stated in the GM bible and the Chapter 5 expansion continuity lock. The accepted log is also preserved in idlewood-campaign.ts.

How to read future material

The campaign book and table expansion contain future chapters, suggested scenes, alternate routes, optional encounters, and conditional consequences. They are preparation, not accepted play history. For example, the expansion describes a possible scout and several ways to handle the prisoners, but those events should enter the fiction only when play reaches them and the player's actions establish their timing. Do not use a book branch to overwrite the checkpoint above.

The structured data has other campaign and character fields for play support. For narrative continuity, use the explicit accepted log and current-continuity direction as the authoritative local checkpoint. There is no verified live Continuum state included in this lore set; this document records the local accepted checkpoint only and does not claim to have synchronized a remote campaign state.

Established versus unresolved at this moment

Established: the Office of Gates exists as a secret royal program; the Crown diviner is in town; the eastern stone is a lock; the three named survivors are alive; Vance and the hound are dead; and the two signals have been sent at the recorded times.

Not yet established by this checkpoint: what the diviner is doing now, what Zed chooses next, where the prisoners will go, and whether the group approaches the boundary. Leave those outcomes open.
