Watchers

REFERENCE DOSSIER · 2 MIN READ

Original campaign-world reference. Sections describing the supplied Day 17 instance record that playthrough only; possibilities remain possibilities.

On this page

Record type: Hook specialist role or unit; organizational boundaries and total membership unknown.

Record

  • Origins / population: Unknown. The sources establish Watchers as specialists associated with the Hook but give no founding history or count.
  • Alignment / leadership: No collective alignment or specialist leader is named.
  • Goals / methods: Surveillance and observation. At least some Watchers can use animals as remote eyes.
  • Territory / resources: No fixed territory or roster is known. Animal observation may extend information gathering, but depends on practical conditions and is not omniscient.
  • Relationships: Watchers are associated with the Hook. Do not collapse the specialist role into the whole organization or presume every Hook cell has one.

Limits and campaign use

Surveillance depends on line of sight, finding and retaining a target, distance, concealment, deception, and correct interpretation. A watched character may not know it. Animal behavior or a sighting can be a clue, but is not automatic proof of a Watcher.

Current-instance evidence (not universal starting state)

In the supplied Day 17 continuum, a Watcher hawk tracked Brogar's caravan. The player grounded the hawk alive; prisoners revealed the Watcher function, and the hawk was later killed to cut surveillance. The source does not identify a captured human Watcher. This outcome is not a fresh-instance starting condition.
