King Canaan's Crown
Original campaign-world reference. Sections describing the supplied Day 17 instance record that playthrough only; possibilities remain possibilities.
On this page
Record type: broad sovereign institution; campaign actor, not a unified villain faction. Setting: Everterra.
The campaign creation helper and continuum identify King Canaan's system as the primary institutional pressure on ordinary life. A prior local adaptation in the campaign book, Roll20 world notes, and Office of Gates material includes details such as Captain Orlan Vance, Maelin Thorne, three-tower counterseals, and the secret Office program. Those remain useful earlier/local-adaptation details, but they are not established by the Everterra campaign bible as universal Crown canon.
Record
- Origins: Canaan expanded human control through roads, bureaucracy, requisitions, fortresses, labor compounds, diplomacy, coercion, and force. His laws and actions repeatedly displaced Seraph, Hugo, and Garr from childhood onward. Further dynastic and constitutional history is unknown.
- Population / scale: Unknown. No state population, army size, or complete measure of royal capacity is provided.
- Alignment: No collective alignment is established in the supplied original lore. Different people have different opinions of Canaan; the conduct of one corrupt official does not assign a moral alignment to the entire Crown.
- Leaders: King Canaan is the ruler. His full command chain and biography are not detailed.
- Goals: Canaan's influence is exercised through institutions and expansion of human control. At local level, Crown systems impose obligations; the broader state can maintain roads and punish bandits while also harming families through quotas, corruption, labor assignments, and bureaucracy. The Crown is not uniformly corrupt or cruel.
- Territory: The precise borders and jurisdictions are unmapped in these campaign sources. Canaan's system reaches Idlewood and the region around the Darkwood and Ninth Gate.
- Resources: Roads, bureaucracy, requisitions, fortresses, labor compounds, diplomacy, coercion, and force are established instruments. Aggregate material and military resources remain unknown.
- Relationships: Ordinary life encounters the Crown through official obligations and individual officials. The Office of Gates belongs to an earlier/local campaign adaptation and is not made universal to Everterra canon by this dossier. Local opinion varies; people may regard Canaan as legitimate while also suffering corruption or unjust demands.
Campaign use
The first pressure in a fresh Idlewood campaign is ordinary institutional reach—requisitions, taxes, labor, inspections, fines, quotas, records, roads, and scarcity—not ancient machinery. A farmer may owe grain while an official secretly demands more than the Crown requires. Keep individual conduct and local corruption distinct from the whole Crown.
Unknown / do not infer: state population, borders, complete policies, full command chain, army totals, collective alignment, or detailed dynasty. Office of Gates, Vance, Thorne, and the three-tower counterseal belong to the earlier/local adaptation unless separately imported into a specific instance.
